OTTI APPOINTS BOARD FOR ABIA MEDICINES AGENCY, MOVES TO STRENGTHEN HEALTHCARE DELIVERY

In a major step toward revitalizing healthcare delivery in Abia State, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has approved the constitution of the Board of the Abia State Medicines and Commodities Management Agency (ASMCMA).

The board is expected to provide strategic oversight for the agency, which is responsible for ensuring the availability, affordability, and quality of essential medicines and medical supplies across public health institutions in the state.

Comprising experts in healthcare management, pharmaceutical sciences, and public policy, the newly constituted board reflects the Otti administration’s commitment to improving access to safe and affordable medical commodities.

Chairman:

Chief Victor Amuta, FPSN – A veteran pharmacist and public health expert with over 48 years of experience.

Members Representing Senatorial Districts:

Dr. (Mrs.) Katlyn I. Ukpabi – Abia North; retired consultant pediatrician, FMC Umuahia. Sir Ucheoma A. Madumere – Abia Central; experienced pharmacist and pharmaceutical service expert. Dr. Akara Emmanuel Ugochukwu – Abia South; medical doctor and health policy specialist. Mr. Chris Ukah – Community health advocate.
