FEDERAL HIGH COURT GRANTS SENATOR NATASHA N50M BAIL, REJECTS DETENTION REQUEST.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted bail to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the sum of ₦50 million. The bail was granted by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who also ruled that the senator must produce one surety—someone deemed trustworthy, residing in Abuja, and owning property within the capital city.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is facing defamation charges filed by the Federal Government. The government had sought her immediate remand pending the outcome of the trial, but Justice Ekwo rejected that request, emphasizing that the court would not jail her while the case remains unresolved.

The trial has now been adjourned for September 23
