Governor Alex Otti Mourns Former President Buhari, Extends Condolences to FG and Family

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away in London on Saturday, July 13, 2025.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the bereaved family of the late former president.

Describing the news as “sad,” Governor Otti urged the Buhari family and Nigerians at large to accept the passing with strength and calm resolve.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Abia State, I extend my condolences to President Tinubu, the federal government, and the family of our departed former president. We pray God grants his soul eternal repose and gives his loved ones the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the Governor said.

The late Muhammadu Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, was also a former military head of state between 1984 and 1985. His death marks the end of a significant era in Nigeria’s political history.

Governor Otti joins other leaders across the nation in mourning the former president’s passing and honoring his service to the country.
