Education Meets Impact: Mayor Lucky Igbokwe Visits FCE Ofeme-Ohuhu, Unveils Bold Support Plans

The State Director of the City Boy Movement in Abia State, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, made a strategic and impactful visit to the Federal College of Education, Ofeme-Ohuhu, Umuahia, where he received a warm welcome from the institution’s management, staff, and students.

During the visit, the Registrar, Lady F.C.N. Ibe, expressed delight at hosting the delegation, describing them as forward-thinking young leaders committed to growth and development. She welcomed the team on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Titus Sunday Ezeme, noting that despite being just three years old, the college is already making commendable progress among its peers.

Representing the Provost, the College Librarian, Bulus Caleb Damen, praised Mayor Igbokwe’s contributions to media development, highlighting his role in establishing radio stations that have amplified community voices. He described the Mayor as a visionary whose investments continue to create opportunities.

Mr. Damen also outlined key challenges facing the institution, including a shortage of laptops and ICT tools, lack of staff transportation, poor road access, unstable electricity, and the urgent need for solar power solutions. He further emphasized the importance of scholarships, noting that many students depend on external sponsorship.

In response, Mayor Igbokwe reaffirmed his commitment to education and community advancement, particularly within Ohuhu. He announced that the City Boy Movement would soon roll out an empowerment initiative that would address transportation needs, including staff shuttles. Additionally, through the Donlulu Foundation, he pledged to donate laptops to enhance the institution’s academic and administrative capacity.

Looking ahead, the Mayor revealed his aspiration to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South at the House of Representatives, promising that, if elected, he would prioritize the rehabilitation of the road leading to the college. He also expressed a personal commitment to support infrastructural development by constructing a hall and additional classrooms.

The visit concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the Registrar, who commended the Mayor’s generosity, vision, and dedication to educational development, while offering prayers for his continued success.

Mayor Igbokwe was accompanied by the State Treasurer, Hon. Kanu Chiwendu, and his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chief Orlando Iheanyi Okparaocha.
