Otti’s Aide Confirms Attack on Governor’s Advance Team, Says No Casualties Recorded
An advance team from the Office of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, was attacked in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, along the Umuowa–Ihite stretch in Imo State.
In an official statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ctz. Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the three-member advance team was on its way to the Sam Mbakwe Airport when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle shortly before the airport junction.
The Governor’s aide clarified that, despite rumours making the rounds, Governor Otti’s convoy was not involved in the incident and was not part of the movement at that time. He emphasized that no casualties were recorded, and all members of the team are safe.
The statement reads:
“In the early hours of today, December 2nd, an advance team of three members from the Office of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, on duty to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Imo State, was attacked by unidentified gunmen between Umuowa and Ihite junction, shortly before the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction.”
The CPS reassured the public, noting that although the attack was unfortunate, it did not involve the Governor and resulted in no loss of life.
