Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has lauded the creativity and ingenuity of Abia youths who emerged champions at the 2025 Civic Connect Hackathon, an initiative organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Economy.

Receiving the winning teams at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Umuahia, Governor Otti commended the participants for showcasing their innate talents and digital skills. He urged the organizers to sustain the initiative as a platform that encourages and celebrates innovation among the youth.

The Governor further directed the Commissioner for Science and Technology, along with the State’s Chief Information Officer, to collaborate with the Hackathon champions in integrating aspects of their innovative solutions into the Abia State Comprehensive ICT Solution Platform currently in development.

In his earlier remarks, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. David Kalu, described the Civic Connect Hackathon as a strategic effort to unlock the hidden brilliance of Abia youths by challenging them to develop ICT-based solutions for real-world problems.

A major highlight of the event was the live demonstration of app solutions developed by the top three teams before the Governor and senior government officials.
