Peter Obi Reaffirms 2027 Presidential Ambition, Promises Single-Term Presidency

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has once again reaffirmed his commitment to a single-term presidency if elected in the 2027 general elections, declaring that four years is enough to begin the transformation of Nigeria.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election — but made it clear that he would not do so as a running mate to any candidate.

“I don’t need a day more than four years. I will show the direction of good governance,” Obi confidently stated.

The former Anambra State governor, who came third in the 2023 presidential election, stressed that real leadership is rooted in compassion and urgency — qualities he believes are lacking in the current administration.

Reflecting on the present state of the nation, Obi said:

“In two years, there has been maximum damage. Two years can change it in a good direction. People want to get up and see a president that cares, that shows compassion.”

His comments come as part of ongoing criticism directed at the Tinubu administration, particularly regarding its handling of the economy and governance. Obi’s remarks signal not only his continued interest in Nigeria’s leadership but also his belief in swift and people-centered reforms.
