End of a Revival Era: Evangelist Uma Ukpai Passes On at 80”

Renowned Nigerian evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai has passed away.

His family confirmed that he entered into glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. 

A man of faith and action, Ukpai dedicated over six decades of his life to evangelism, prophetic teaching, and humanitarian work. His ministry touched countless lives across Nigeria and beyond through crusades, teaching, and outreach. 

Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia (Abia State), he overcame early-life hardship—including the death of his father at a young age—and proceeded to build an influential ministry. 

He founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, which organized major crusade events, and played a key role in founding the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). 

Dr. Ukpai’s influence extended into education and healthcare. His legacy includes the Uma Ukpai School of Theology and Biblical Studies, Uma Ukpai Polytechnic in Asaga, and medical outreach initiatives such as the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre and King of Kings Hospital. 

In a statement titled “Glorious Transition,” his family described him as “a devoted soldier of the cross” and expressed gratitude for his life and legacy. They added that while his physical presence is gone, his legacy of faith, integrity, and transforming ministry continues. 

Funeral and memorial details are yet to be announced by the family. 

As the church and wider community reflect on his life, Dr. Ukpai will be remembered as a stalwart of faith, a bridge-builder across denominations, and a lifelong servant whose impact will endure beyond his passing.
